Chamber Orchestra Presents “Courting the Classics”

On February 21 and 22 The Contra Costa Chamber Orchestra will present music by beloved 18th Century composers Haydn, Mozart and Mendelssohn. The program includes Haydn’s “London” Symphony, which encapsulates the sprit of the time, combining courtly elegance with innovative dramatic effects. Also on the program are the vibrant and often-overlooked Three Marches by Mozart, and Mendelssohn’s evocative The Beautiful Melusine.

"This program is a journey through the heart of the orchestral repertoire," says Artistic Director Geoffrey Gallegos. "From the regal energy of Mozart to the sweeping scales of Mendelssohn and the triumphant symphony of Haydn, there is something in this program for every listener to fall in love with.
