General Write up for Pagers & Promises an R&B Pop UP

Pagers & Promises is an R&B pop-up where the music is the point. Sponsored by Mechanic Bank.

DJ Garrett of In the Mix will play the R&B music that raised you. Christina Kenney aka Emcee Inhergy® will hype the room and if you've seen her work, you know she doesn't just announce a set, she conducts one.  You show up with your people dressed in burnt orange, and brown with a touch of gold. Bring cash for the pay to play sing along.

VIP guests get a charcuterie board at their seat and two song requests, so the night doesn't just get played at you. It gets built by you.

But this is more than a good night out.

Every dollar raised goes to Equity for Black Women & Girls.

E4BWG exists because of a gap this region has never been honest about. Black women and girls in Contra Costa County hold families, congregations, classrooms, and small businesses together and have been the least funded, least resourced, and least asked people in the county for as long as anyone has been counting. E4BWG is RCF Connects' answer to that: not a study, not a listening tour, but direct investment.

That looks like Sistas SOAR, building economic power and entrepreneurship. It looks like Sister Circles, where women find the community and the honesty that keeps them standing. It looks like Embodied Leadership Coaching, because you cannot lead a community from an empty tank and Black women are handed the leadership and denied the support almost every time.

That work is serious. The way we support it can be fun.

So come to dance, sing, or cuddle up with your boo. Come sing the second verse wrong and loud. Come because the same music that raised us can fund the women who are raising the bar in business.
