Robin Duhe – Bassist | Composer | Recording Artist

Renowned bassist and composer Robin Duhe has spent more than three decades captivating audiences worldwide as a member of the legendary R&B band Maze Featuring Frankie Beverly, performing alongside iconic frontman Frankie Beverly. Known for his smooth grooves, musical versatility, and unmistakable bass style, Duhe has been a vital part of the band’s timeless sound.

After years of touring and recording with Maze, Duhe stepped into the spotlight as a solo artist with the release of his debut album Do It Duhe in 2004. The project showcased a new creative direction, blending smooth jazz with the soulful R&B influences that shaped his career. He followed with his second album Life in 2009, a deeply personal project that expanded his musical palette across smooth jazz, funk, and soulful R&B. Fans can now look forward to his upcoming release, Journey, continuing his evolution as a composer and performer.

Born in Oakland, California, Duhe grew up in a large musical family where creativity and performance were part of everyday life. His musical journey began in elementary school playing trumpet before switching to French horn in high school, where he performed in orchestras and bands including a memorable appearance at the New York World's Fair.

His musical destiny shifted when his mother gifted him a four-string guitar. Playing it like a bass, Duhe quickly discovered the instrument that would define his career: the bass guitar.

After high school, he became active in the vibrant San Francisco Bay Area music scene, performing with the Soul Messengers, a group known for backing legendary artists such as Etta James and Bobby Womack. While attending college, Duhe was introduced to members of Frankie Beverly’s band an encounter that would change his life. He soon joined the group and went on to tour the world for more than 30 years as a member of Maze Featuring Frankie Beverly.

Throughout his career, Duhe’s music has continually evolved. While his early years were rooted firmly in R&B, his solo recordings introduced a sophisticated blend of smooth jazz, funk, and soul. His album Life carries particular emotional depth. During its creation, Duhe faced and overcame a battle with cancer, inspiring the powerful title track “Life (Gets in the Way),” a heartfelt reflection on resilience and perspective.
